How does Scultra work?
Sculptra is a facial injection treatment that gives you deep tissue regeneration to help reduce the signs of ageing in your face. Sculptra is a liquid but it is not a dermal filler. Instead it works by stimulating your own skin to make new collagen to replace lost volume in your face. This can take a few weeks to three months, and so the result is a very natural refreshed look.
How many injection sessions will I need?
On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person. It depends on how much volume replacement you need.
What are the risks and side effects of Sculptra treatment?
The most common side effects after initial treatment include injection site swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching and lumps. Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, some with delayed onset with or without inflammation or skin discoloration, have also been reported.
How much does Sculptra treatment cost?
Sculptra treatment currently costs £375 for a single vial. One vial is used for each treatment session.
What happens after Sculptra treatment?
Treatment with Sculptra takes between 30 and 45 minutes, after which you will notice an immediate improvement. This improvement will disappear within 24 hours but over the coming weeks there will be a gradual improvement as the body lays down new collagen and fills out your skin. It is important to massage the treated area for a few days after the treatment, and your doctor will advise you about this. There may also be some temporary redness, swelling or slight itching at the site.
Are there any do's and don'ts after Sculptra treatment?
You will need to massage your face for five minutes, five times a day for a week after the procedure. There is a possibility of bruising as the treatment is given by injection, but you’ll be able to go about your normal activities after the treatment.
Radio frequency collagen stimulation treatment shouldn’t be done for the first six months after treatment as there’s a possibility of collagen hyper-stimulation.
How long does the treatment last?
The effects of Sculptra last approximately two years.
