PRP for Male-Pattern Baldness

A safe and effective treatment

Male-pattern baldness is a common and distressing problem which usually occurs in men but can also affect some women. A variety of approaches have been used to treat this condition, including medications such as Finasteride and topical applications such as Minoxidil. Surgery can also be helpful, but is expensive.

Platelet-rich plasma has been scientifically proven to have benefits for male-pattern baldness. It is a safe and effective treatment that increases the density of hair follicles and hair growth.

The treatment involves taking some blood from your arm with a sterile disposable syringe and needle. Then using a sterile disposable kit, platelets are separated from the rest of the blood by spinning the blood in a special disposable test-tube with the separating gel inside it. The platelet rich plasma is then withdrawn into a sterile disposable syringe and injected using a mesotherapy technique into the area affected by baldness.

The whole procedure takes about an hour. There is very little discomfort (local anaesthetic cream is used) and usually no down-time. The risks of any unwanted side-effects is very low as it is your own blood-product that is being injected and it never leaves the clinic office. The procedure takes about an hour. The kits are used only once and then disposed of.

Normally three treatments are provided approximately six weeks apart. The cost of the three treatments is £750.
