I am an authorised (http://www NULL.genuinedermaroller NULL.co NULL.uk/GenuineDermarollerClinics NULL.aspx) provider of Dermaroller™ microneedling therapy. The Dermaroller was developed in Germany as a treatment to reduce the severity of acne scars. During the research that was done to evaluate its effectiveness for acne scars it was discovered that dermaroller microneedling therapy can significantly improve the appearance of:
- Uneven, thin or pigmented skin
- Open pores
- Aged and sun damaged skin
- Facial and neck wrinkles
- Stretch marks
This gallery shows the before and after photos of clients who have had dermaroller treatment.
The treatment consists of micro-medical skin-needling, a procedure that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.
The device produces thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin . The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly – often in the same day. I will use a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the skin making the procedure comfortable.
After treatment your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin. I will recommend a post-treatment revitalisation and rejuvenation cosmetic pack that will work with the dermaroller therapy to reduce pigmentation and reduce wrinkles.
Q. Does dermaroller treatment cause a lot of redness and skin peeling?
A. No. One of the big advantages of Dermaroller treatment is that the downtime with dermaroller is minimal. The redness usually only lasts for a day and in most cases is quite mild. A mild amount of skin peeling takes place about a week after treatment.
Q. Can I get bruising with Dermaroller treatment?
A. No, bruising is not a problem with Dermaroller treatment. The needle length is 1.5mm, which is not enough to penetrate any deeper veins that might cause bruising.
Q. Can I have Dermaroller treatment if I have active acne?
A. Yes, I have a number of clients with active acne who have regular dermaroller treatment and find that it is very beneficial to acne control as well as the beneficial effects on acne scarring and pigmentation.
Q. Can the Dermaroller be used under my eyes and on my eyelids?
A. Yes, under the eyes and on the eyelids is a good place for Dermaroller treatment as these are areas that are hard to treat with other non-surgical means, with the exception of Pelleve.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
A. I normally recommend three treatments spaced a month apart. For deeper acne scars and more severe stretch marks I recommend five treatments.
Q. How often can I have dermaroller treatment after the initial course?
A. I would normally recommend a top-up once every six months.
Q. Can Dermaroller treatment be used for all skin types?
A. Yes. This is one of the big advantages of Dermaroller treatment, it can be safely used on all skin types with minimal risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Although this is a theoretical risk with any kind of treatment that provokes a reaction from the skin, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation has not been reported after dermaroller treatment.
Q. I’ve seen the 0.5mm dermaroller on various websites, is this just as good as the 1.5mm dermaroller?
A. No. If you want to activate the collagen induction process in your skin, research has shown that the 1.5mm length is ideal.
Demo of dermaroller technique:
This lady tells us we’re looking for 6 passes per centimetre in different directions, on each area of skin. She then moves to next area and rolls more than six times and rolls over it again making the skin bleed. I counted 24 passes on the jaw area and 19 on the chin!!
So contradicting really.
True. I’m not sure why she talks about the number of passes per centimetre. When I do the procedure I continue until I reach the endpoint of pinpoint bleeding in the skin. That might be a couple of passes in someone with delicate skin, or it might take quite a few passes to achieve pinpoint bleeding in someone with tough leathery sun-damaged skin. But it’s important to achieve the endpoint, because that is the way that I know that enough trauma has been done to achieve the rejuvenation results that can be obtained with this technique. One point to note is there isn’t any bruising associated with this and the post-procedure redness resolves within 24-48 hours in most people.
hi
I was wondering I have an age spot my hand which I am wanting to lighten to blend in with my own skin tone, I am currently using Obagi Clear to help with this pigmentation, can I use the roller with this product and which needle length should I use?
Hi Jane
Choosing a roller to complement Obagi Clear to reduce age spots or pigmentation due to sun damage is very effective. You can just go for a short needle length – a 0.25mm is fine for that as this will minimize discomfort and it’ll make a big difference to the effectiveness of the anti-pigmentation treatment. I recommend the Dermapure Home Treatment pack (cost is £79 + £5p&p, buy home dermaroller kit here), which includes a titanium 0.25mm dermaroller, preparation cream, collagen-activator with stem cells, peptide-based anti-pigmentation treatment and solar moisturizer (SPF 30).
