Pelleve: The Non-Surgical Facelift
Pelleve is a safe and effective way to help you achieve smoother, tighter skin without needles, surgery or downtime. The prestigious United States FDA granted approval for the use of Pellevé to treat facial wrinkles without surgery in May 2009. It was introduced in the UK in November 2010 and I was one of the first doctors in the UK to start using Pellevé. And at price of only £280 for a full facial treatment (even less for multiple treatment package deals) it’s a treatment that you can afford to consider
What is a Pelleve Facelift and and Who Can Benefit?
Pelleve facelift uses radiowave frequency as the means to start the growth of new collagen in your skin. Pelleve gently heats up the skin and this causes new collagen to develop in the deeper layers of the skin. This will help to smooth and get rid of the wrinkles that may have developed in your face area and tighten up the sagging skin especially around the chin, neck and jaw line. In terms of recovery, there are no downtime for pelleve lift. Pelleve is FDA approved for men and women of middle age and beyond with mild to moderate wrinkles. The results include smoother skin, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and the tightening of sagging skin . These results typically last a minimum of six months, much longer than many competing skin treatments. What are the benefits of choosing Pelleve over similar treatments? The main advantages of Pelleve are that it is non-invasive (i.e no needles and no artificial substances injected into your skin) and that its results last a full six months.
No Pain, No Gain?
Are you concerned that pelleve is painful? Well the good news about pelleve facelift is that there is very little pain. Patients have no downtime and they can return to their normal routines immediately after the treatment. It truly is a lunchtime procedure. Besides your facial skin, you can also use pelleve for lips to reduce the fine lines that have been forming around the lips area. With this new treatment, you might compare pelleve with other skin tightening treatments such as thermage CPT or fraxel dual laser. The main difference is that pelleve laser is a more comfortable treatment due to the fact that less heat is generated. How long you have to wait before seeing results from pelleve? Usually around two treatments spaced about a month to six weeks apart. After these two treatments, most people will see a reduction of wrinkles and fine lines on your facial skin area and tightening of the skin around the neck, chin and jawline.
Pelleve uses radio frequency to gently heat the lower layers of the skin to tighten existing collagen as well as encourage new collagen growth. The skin tightening that happens smooths out wrinkles and lifts the skin. Pelleve operates in the lower layers of the skin and spares the surface, so there is no change in colour or texture and no downtime.
The heat causes the collagen in your skin to tighten. After the treatment the skin will start to produce new collagen. The result is an improvement in skin quality, firmness and tightness that you can see and feel. Read about one of my client’s experience of the procedure.

Pellevé can be used to treat the skin on the face, neck and hands including: Sagging skin under the chin,
nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds), wrinkles around the mouth, lines or folds between the eyebrows, lines on the forehead, crows feet lines.
You will start to see results immediately after just one Pellevé treatment, with lasting improvement up to six months. However, a second treatment can be given four to six weeks after the first to enhance the effects of the initial treatment.
Q. How is Pellevé different from other skin tightening treatments?
A. Pellevé has been proven to provide safe and effective skin tightening in medical studies. No anaesthesia is needed so you can return to home or work immediately after the treatment.
Q. Is Pellevé better than surgery?
A. Pellevé produces subtle but significant changes that can be measured in millimetres rather than surgery where changes are often more drastic and can be measured in centimetres. So if you are looking for a refreshed appearance where people can see that you look great but without the post-surgical look and with no scars, then Pellevé may be for you.
Q. What should I expect during the procedure?
A. You will feel a deep warming sensation each time the Pellevé handpiece touches the area being treated. You will be able to describe the depth of feeling to your doctor, which will help ensure the best possible results.
Q. How long does the procedure take?
A. Your Pellevé treatment will take about 45 to 60 minutes for a full facial treatment.
Q. What should I expect afterwards?
A. Possible side effects include mild discomfort during the treatment. Mild swelling and redness may occur which typically go away within 2 to 24 hours.
Q. Can it be used safely on people with coloured skin?
A. Pelleve is also one of the few anti-aging tools that can be used safely by people with coloured skin. Lasers and IPL can all lead to irregular and splotchy dark patches on the skin. Sub-ablative radio frequency (the technical name for Pelleve) because it does not affect the surface of the face, can be confidently and effectively used by women and men with darker complexions.
Q. Is there anyone who should not have Pellevé treatment?
A. The following are reasons not to have Pellevé: Pregnancy, cardiac pacemaker, clips inside the brain e.g. following subarachnoid haemorrhage. Please inform your doctor if any of these conditions apply.
